Our Story
Rachel and Blake's story started at a casual pool party in Austin, TX, on a memorable July 4th in 2016. Introduced by mutual colleagues, their connection sparked despite Rachel calling him "Ba-La-Kay" repeatedly (a nod to a Key & Peele sketch) throughout the day.
Weekend hangouts soon became their thing. Rachel, new to Austin, eagerly embraced Blake's role as her local guide. They explored the vibrant scene along East 6th Street, from intimate music gigs at Sofar Sounds to trying out eclectic cocktail bars and cozy eateries, building a collection of shared memories.
Despite their differences, their personalities clicked. Blake's calm balanced Rachel's emotional side, offering sound advice to her impulsiveness, such as "maybe you should sleep on it before sending that text." In turn, Rachel's vibrant spirit added fun to Blake's life, encouraging him to chase dreams.
When it came to hobbies, they had their own interests, but that didn't stop them from enjoying each other's company. Evenings were filled with binge-watching "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," trips to the Alamo to watch Marvel movies, spirited video game battles, and devouring rainbow rolls at their favorite sushi spot. Recently, Rachel has pursued Muay Thai and Blake has been working on his golf game. No matter their current hobbies, they have always respected and supported each other. (Blake has yet to try Muay Thai but Rachel hasn't given up yet. Additionally, Rachel doesn't like anything she isn't instantly good at, and golf is not in her skill set, but she is open to hanging out in the golf cart.)
As time passed, they took a big step together – buying a home. Challenges like termites, unruly weeds, and the havoc of Texas' 2022 Icepocalypse tested their partnership. But they faced each obstacle as a team, emerging stronger and more united, knowing they could handle anything as long as they were together.
Their unique love story has led them to this moment. With excitement, they look forward to celebrating with family and friends who've been part of their journey. Rachel and Blake step into the future hand in hand, ready to embrace whatever comes next, and to continue building a life full of happiness and shared adventures.
